Levels of Distinction

Candidates and members who go above and beyond requirements for good standing-- that is, those candidates and members who complete additional community service and professional hours beyond standard requirements are eligible to be recognized at the end of the semester as Distinguished, Superior, or Gold. Please note:

Distinguished
9 community service hours; 7 professional hours; and 7 additional service, professional, and matching hours

Superior
10 community service hours; 8 professional hours; and 14 additional service, professional, and matching hours

Gold
12 community service hours; 10 professional hours; and 28 additional service, professional, or matching hours

Outstanding
Our Outstanding Candidate at the end of the semester is the candidate who achieved the most total hours.

Our Outstanding Member at the end of the semester is the member who achieved the most total hours.

NOTE: For good standing and all levels of distinction, at least 2 hours of service must be tutoring (in the Business Learning Center or at an elementary school)

See table at the bottom of the page.

Note about matching hours: For every 1 hour of community service outside of Beta Alpha Psi that a candidate or member participates in, this 1 hour counts toward meeting Beta Alpha Psi requirements for special distinction, up to 250 minutes per year

For example, if you spend 4 hours volunteering at a local food bank, you can count 4 hours toward Beta Alpha Psi service/additional hour requirements.

For every 1 hour of professional events and activities a candidate or member participates in, 1 hour counts toward meeting Beta Alpha Psi requirements for good standing or special distinction, up to 250 minutes per year. Examples: TSCPA meetings, MILE meetings, Rotaract and Rotary meetings, Accounting Careers of Tomorrow, Professional Connections, Lunch and Learn series, Toastmasters, Professionalism First, Business Etiquette dinners.

For example, if you spend 4 hours participating in MILE events, you can count 4 hours toward Beta Alpha Psi professional/additional hour requirements.

Note: Matching professional minutes can only be applied toward special distinction. They do not count toward meeting good standing requirements to attend at least 6 Beta Alpha Psi meetings (or events) per semester.

Be sure to get your service form signed at any service or professional events that you want to count toward your matching hours!
